Well, most folks don't think so anymore since web services is such a huge goal for a lot of organizations.  The firewalls will have to keep evolving to do more complicated inspection on content whose DTD or XML Schema keep changing (which is harder, but what isn't) if security of web services is a desirable goal.  This is just like how firewalls had to adapt years ago to performing stateful inspection of the ftp protocol to get the PORT or PASV command to work properly.
