Along with Replay and SpamAssassin, WebWasher is one of the most life-changing technologies in terms of letting me choose how I use my time and what I see. Jamie Kellner of Time Warner describes skipping ads as theft. I describe it as the future.
Which is why I was so annoyed when one of my favorite sites, the NY Times, started using Flash ads that weren’t automatically blocked by WebWasher 3.0. Well, never fear. The trick is just to edit the WebWasher filter list so that “*bluestreak.com/*”, “*yimg.com/*” and “*nytimes.com/adx/*” are all listed without any checkmarks. While you’re at it, mark “*blogger.com/*” as “do not filter” so that the javascript necessary for editing isn’t blocked.
We now return you to our regular scheduled broadcast, happily wiped clean of any advertising.
