I just got back from giving 31 one hour presentations for Pixonics in 3 days in a darkened suite at the Las Vegas Hilton during the Consumer Electronics Show. I’m exhausted, but they were great meetings and I’m glad I did it.

The CES atomosphere put me in mind of Wordsworth:

The world is too much with us; late and soon,

The ILECs feeling threatened in their primary voice business is a good thing for Pedestal, because it means they need to role out DSL to make up for lost revenues.

Great front page NYT piece on the enormous success of DVDs, which are the fastest adopted technology in history. Of course, this is great news for Pixonics, which is the only company offering a technology for backward-compatible high definition DVDs.

People are worried than when Habeas sues spammers, there won’t be anything to collect. Of course, this will sometimes be the case, but we can still force the spammers out of business. But as a counterexample, these spammers had “$30 million in luxury real estate and a herd of Mercedes-Benzes, Rolls Royces and a Lamborghini”.

I consider myself vaguely flattered to be called Stalinist by as big a name as Cory Doctorow. Amusingly, his boingboing blog that led to the quicktopic, also includes this tale, which sounds slightly more Stalinist. Just to be clear, this is all about Habeas, which is the new Skymoon company I co-founded with CEO Anne Mitchell.

The WSJ quotes a new Pew Internet life survey:

Roughly 24 million Americans, or 21% of all Web users, now have high-speed connections at home…. The dominant mode of high-speed access was still through cable TV modems at 71%, followed by DSL telephone lines at 27%, while 2% were using satellite or wireless broadband services.

There are 278 M Americans according to the CIA World Factbook.
